You don’t have to carry this alone
Support for grief and loss when the weight feels too heavy, the mind won’t settle, and the world no longer feels like it used to.
Grief counselling for students in Bath and online
You are supposed to be having the best years of your life. Instead, you are lying awake at 3am, replaying things, holding something heavy that nobody around you seems to see.
Grief at university is a strange kind of alone. Everyone else is at pre-drinks. You are trying to work out how to exist.
If your university counselling sessions have run out, the waiting list feels too long, or what you are carrying feels more specific than a general service can hold, this page is for you.
What I offer
Grief and loss are at the heart of my work, but sessions are shaped by whatever you bring. Sometimes that is a bereavement. Sometimes it is anticipatory grief, pet loss, estrangement, or a loss that does not have an obvious name. Sometimes it is anxiety, low mood, or a sense that something has shifted and you cannot quite say what. Whatever arrives in the room is what we work with.
If you are not sure whether what you are carrying counts, that is a completely reasonable place to start. Most people who come to me are not sure either. You do not need a diagnosis, a GP referral, or proof that things are bad enough. If it is heavy for you, that is enough.
Sessions are in Bath or online, so they can travel home with you in the holidays. Evening appointments are available to fit around lectures and shifts. I work in English and Polish.
What it costs
£30 per session for students and those on low incomes. Sessions are 50 minutes.
No waiting list. No hidden fees. No minimum number of sessions.
It starts with a free 15-minute introductory call to see whether it feels right. You can book that call online without phoning anyone.
Is it confidential?
Yes. What you bring to sessions stays between us, within the standard ethical limits I will explain clearly at the start.
Your university is not told you are coming. Your parents are not told. Nothing goes on any academic record. This is your space, separate from all of that.
What happens in a first session
We talk about what has brought you here. You do not need to prepare anything or arrive knowing what to say. There is no right way to start.
The first session is not an assessment or an intake form. It is a conversation. You can talk, or you can sit with it for a while. Both are fine.
What kinds of loss bring students to me
The death of a parent, grandparent, or sibling while you are away from home.
A relationship ending that nobody around you seems to think is a big deal.
A pet who died, and a grief you are not sure you are allowed to feel this much.
A friendship that quietly stopped.
A miscarriage, or the grief of someone close to you going through one.
Estrangement from a parent or family member.
The grief of leaving home, leaving a country, or leaving a version of yourself behind.
If it was a loss to you, it qualifies here.
A note on university counselling
University counselling services are good at what they do. They are also working within real constraints: session limits, waiting lists, generalist provision.
If you have used your sessions and are still here, that is not a failure. It is what grief does when there is not enough room for it.
You do not have to start from scratch or explain everything again. You need somewhere that is not in a hurry.

Common questions
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly, starting with the free call.
Can I keep going through the holidays?
Yes. Online sessions mean we can continue wherever you are, and we can pause and restart around term dates if that works better.
What if my university sessions have run out?
You can start with me straight away. There is no waiting list, and you will not have to retell everything from the beginning unless you want to.
What if I am not sure counselling is for me?
That is exactly what the free 15-minute call is for. There is no pressure to book anything afterwards.
